Please read carefully.

We are pleased to announce that we have at last been allowed by Quakers Meeting to rebook the Friends Meeting House in St. Mary's Road, Portishead for our meetings, starting on 26th November 2021 at 7.30 p.m.

We will resume these meetings on the 4th Friday of each month as is our usual practice. As always, the December meeting will be one week earlier.

We need to follow the guidelines laid down by Quakers Meeting, so the following practice will be adopted until further notice:

  • At least one person will arrive early to wipe down all touchable surfaces and arrange the seating and chairs as required. Please do not enter the hall until this is done.
  • Chairs will be placed on either side of the hall at a suitable distance apart. On entering the hall, please take up your position and remain seated during the meeting. The toilet may be used.
  • Most importantly, please use the hand sanitiser made available, on entering the hall as well as on exiting.
  • Doors and windows will be left open for ventilation. Please dress accordingly.
  • Roger Martin will present the first programme for us. Instead of using the display boards, the prepared sheets of material will be passed around and eventually returned to him when they have made the full circuit. This method will prevent the usual huddle to view these.
  • If you prefer, please feel free to use a mask, but it is not essential.
  • For the first meeting, with this experimental system, we will not be providing the usual tea and biscuits. If all goes well, we will resume this at the December meeting to wash down those traditional mince pies.
  • At the end of the evening two members will be needed again to wipe down all surfaces.

What a relief to be able to meet people again!

18th October 2021.
